Frequently Asked Questions

Planning your wedding flowers should be fun and exciting and our role is to assist you along the way. We have put together some FAQs for you to have a clearer idea of what to expect but, if you have a question that we didn't answer, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Where are you located?

We are a florist located on the outskirts of Bath, Somerset - about 10 minutes drive from the city centre - in a village called Claverton at the Cotswolds’ most southern point.

Where do you operate?

Most of our weddings and events are within Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

Do you travel?

Yes we do. We travel to pretty much anywhere in the UK. The travel fee and accommodation for our team (if required) will be included in your quote. The price will depend on the distance, the amount of hours/days spent on site, the size of your event and design.

How far before my wedding should I contact a florist?

It is never too early to get organised; especially as flowers are an important component of your wedding day. They set the mood and tone of your event and will be remembered for years to come. Aim to contact your florist at least three months in advance.

However, as a premium floral designer, we limit the number of events we do each season to offer our clients the highest level of service and attention. Therefore, our calendar can book up quite quickly so we would recommend that you contact us as soon as you have the wedding venue booked so that we can secure your date. If we are already booked up, we will do our best to recommend talented and trusty florists within your area.

What should I expect during a wedding flower consultation?

A wedding flower consultation is the chance for us to get to know each-other and work together on the look you would like for your wedding. Feel free to send over Pinterest boards, photos or anything that inspires you beforehand. Consultations usually take about an hour and are a perfect opportunity for you to talk through all your floral ideas, inspirations, colour schemes, styles and budget for your special day. Make sure to let us know if there are any specific props you would like to be incorporated into your wedding’s décor so that we can create a bespoke proposal tailored to your big day. We will be able to advise you on seasonal flowers available at the time of your event and how to optimise your budget to achieve the look you want to create.

Don’t worry if you are feeling quite uninspired as this is where our expertise comes in. Remember, we are here to guide you and make the process as exciting as possible! Equally, we love it if you have a specific vision in mind and will be able to adapt our style to suit your wedding.

After our first contact, we will work on a wedding presentation with mock-ups, photos and prices per item for us to review together. Once we have an idea of your floral style we will then put together a tailored proposal which is usually emailed to you within two weeks of our meeting.

How would you describe your floristry style?

Just like any other wedding supplier, florists have their own unique style and you need to make sure it aligns with yours. Our style is wild and elegant, led by the seasons. Have a look at our wedding gallery or Instagram page to see examples of some of the wedding flowers we have done.

I saw this amazing arrangement on a photo but you didn’t have anything similar on your website, can you still make it?

Absolutely. We only feature a limited selection of events we have done on our website so don’t be put off if you can’t see what you are looking for. We also love a challenge and think that life is too short to do the same thing every time - please throw all of your unique ideas our way!

Do you provide decor and accessories?

We understand that your wedding décor is not only limited to just flowers so we also hire out props such as easels, candlestick holders, tumblers, lanterns and bases for your beautiful wedding centrepieces to stand on. See some of the options we have from the prop hire page of our website.

Do you have wedding packages?

Every wedding is unique and we believe in tailoring each and every event to our couple’s individual needs, hence we do not have wedding packages.

How do you calculate the cost of my wedding flowers?

While seasonality and availability is a key factor when costing your wedding flowers, there are many other variables that will affect the final quote such as your preferred type of flowers, colour scheme, whether they can be sourced locally, the size and height of your chosen arrangements, the quality of the flowers sourced, etc. An other important aspect to consider is the hire of vases, urns, arches, candles and other props as well as consumable items such as ribbon, wires, etc. Finally, remember that florists are trained professionals and making wedding flowers is labour intensive. A lot of thoughts (and time) will be put into designing your big day, ordering the stock, conditioning, making, packing, transporting and installing your wedding flowers.

Every aspect will carefully be taken into account within your quote so that you can make an informed decision.

How much should I budget for my wedding flowers?

This will depend on the impact you would like your flowers to create as you walk down the aisle or enter your wedding reception. To some couples, fresh flowers might not matter as much, whereas some will want their wedding filled with the most incredible flower displays and installations.

At The Roantree, we would advise that you dedicate between ten to twenty percent of your total wedding budget towards your wedding flowers. This will allow your florist to create impact with arrangements that will be remembered by you and your guests for years to come.

Why is it important to know the budget you wish to spend on your wedding decoration?

Be honest about your budget during our initial consultation so that we know what to recommend. By taking your budget into consideration from the very beginning of the planning process, we can give you the best advice on how to place the flowers for maximum effect and what types of flowers will be the best value to achieve your desired look.

Do you have a minimum spend?

We have a minimum spend of £2,000 per event.

Why do you have a minimum spend?

We pride ourselves on designing and creating high end arrangements, using premium, ethically-sourced and long-lasting fresh flowers. Flowers are a luxury item and, unfortunately, not cheap to source from flower growers. Our goal is to insure your wedding flowers are as breath-taking and memorable as possible by only incorporating the best-quality blooms, foliage, vases, ribbons, etc. for a wild and elegant look.

Being an event-based floral studio also means that we order flowers in wholesale quantity specifically for your events. Any leftovers won’t be sold to the general public so it is important that we minimise waste.

Finally, having a minimum spend enables us to provide you with a quality customer service meaning that we can focus on your big day as opposed to having numerous events happening on the same day and not being able to give you the attention required for your event. Some florists might not have a minimum spend, however they will most likely take multiple weddings on the same weekend - maybe event the same day. Having a minimum spend means that we can dedicate our attention and time to your event in the week leading up to your event rather than rushing multiple bridal bouquets whilst racing against the clock, which would impact on the quality of the finished design as well as our relationship.

Where do you source your flowers and foliage from?

Most of our blooms will come from nearby flower farms as well as other British flower grower. A bulk of our foliage is also foraged directly from the farm we work on. This however depends on seasonal availability. We will import the remaining of the stock (blooms and foliage) from Holland if we are unable to source quality stock from the UK.

If you are anxious about sourcing all of your wedding flowers ethically, please rest assured that we can make it work - we might simply have to make last minute adjustments to some of the varieties we will be using without compromising the final design.

How do I go about getting a quote from The Roantree?

You can either contact us from the website our email us directly at hello@theroantree.com with your event date and venue (if you already know it). We can then arrange for a face to face meeting or video call to go through your wedding consultation.

How do we secure our booking with The Roantree?

To secure your wedding flowers with The Roantree, we require a non-refundable booking fee of twenty percent from your overall quote, which will then be deducted from your final invoice.

When will I need to pay the final balance?

We will require the outstanding balance no later than six weeks prior to your event date. Note that we will also require a five percent refundable deposit for all inventory provided to be paid six weeks before your wedding, when settling the invoice. All our terms and conditions will be included in your initial proposal.

How does delivery work?

Wherever possible, we will deliver all wedding flowers on the morning of the wedding. We can however deliver the flowers the day before the wedding should you want your flowers for your wedding rehearsal. We will deliver the bridal party flowers to your chosen location as well as deliver and install all other arrangements, buttonholes, etc. at the venue a few hours before the start of your wedding ceremony. We will make sure that everything is set up with plenty of time before your guests arrive.

How will I get any rented item back to you?

We will come back to collect any equipment the day after the wedding at a time agreed with you. You will be able to keep any fresh flowers.

Can I make amends to my order?

If you change your mind, have miscalculated the number of buttonholes or have one less bridesmaid, don't worry, this is happens. Alterations to your quote can be made up to six weeks prior to your wedding date and paying the remaining balance. Each time you make amendments a new proposal will be sent to you with an updated balance.

Will you work with other of our wedding suppliers?

Yes we will where necessary. We often liaise directly with wedding coordinators, venues, cakemakers (to place fresh flowers on your wedding cake), etc. It is important for us to make sure that we can take the load of you.

Who will set up the flowers on my wedding day?

Sky and her experienced team will design, transport and deliver all of your wedding flowers as well as ensure everything is set-up in a timely manner before your big day’s celebrations begin. We also strongly believe in re-purposing flowers as best as possible to optimise your budget, so, wherever possible, our team will stay onsite to move your arrangements post ceremony, ready for your wedding reception.

We will also come back the day after the end of your event to take down anything that needs taking down.
